If He asks me for my answer
stay with me oh mother mine.
for I know His every pleasure
is so closely linked with thine.
Does He want my earthly service,
in the world or cloister sweet?
tell me mother guide me safely
that my life may be complete.
I would fear to choose without thee
paths are very many, narrow, wide,
lined with blossoms veiled in shadows,
keep me closely at thy side.
Tell Him I am waiting ready,
whatsoe’er the task may be.
And I’d feel so safe, so happy,
if He said, “Come follow me.”
