It is good to hear a Canonist speak about this. We have too many people who think that they can use and abuse Canon 603 in this way. It may be difficult to become a religious community, but if it is meant to be, then moving through the usual process is important. For those with true vocations to solitary eremitical life, the use of Canon 603 in this way can seem to diminish the vocation C 603 recognizes and gives to the Church. While C 603 allows for Lauras from what I have read it is clear that these are not to be communities under a single Rule. I hope you will write more about this. Great comments.
