My preference is to be identified as a diocesan anchoress. Paragraph 1 of Canon 603 states "the Church recognizes the eremitic or anchoritic life" and then in paragraph 2 of the same canon it states "A hermit is recognized..." One reason for my preference is the rich spiritual meaning the word holds for me. Is there any reason why Iought not to use the identifying term "anchoress".
